Below are the listed specifications that can be found in the purchase window for each locomotive in the game Railroad Tycoon II:

  • Availability - In which is the locomotive available for purchase under non-scripted circumstances.
  • Building Cost - How much the locomotive costs to purchase.
  • Maintenance - The annual maintenance payed when the locomotive is in service. Note that the listed value is of a brand new engine.
  • Fuel Cost - The cost of fuel for the locomotive. Note that the listed value is an estimate, with distance taken into account. Faster locomotives have higher fuel costs, as they travel further.
  • Acceleration - A measure of how fast the locomotive is able to get to it's top speed.
  • Reliability - A measure of how often a train will break down, though there are lots of factors that come into this.
  • Top Speed - The absolute maximum speed that the locomotive can travel at. It is very difficult for a locomotive to reach this speed.

Note that there are other more discrete specifications for each locomotive, and details about these can be found in the specification pages.
